Shooting MeritLeslie Ford Hight's journey in trapshooting began at the Spanish Fork Gun Club in 1995. She worked as a trap girl loading houses, hand pulling, and scoring. She began registering ATA targets in 1999.
She won her first of eight State Lady I Singles Titles in 2005, then added to that title in 2007, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, and lastly in 2024. She also won numerous State Lady I Handicap, Doubles, High All Around, and High Over All Titles as well. She has won numerous Lady I titles at Satellite Grands, and Zone Shoots. She has also served as captain of the Utah State Ladies Team multiple times.
Leslie went on to become a four-time Lady I All-American, no small task in itself.
Leslie didn't just "take" from the sport, she has given back to the sport many times in many ways. Not the least of which was serving as treasurer of the Utah State Trapshooting Association.
After her Induction into the Hall of Fame, she continued to win Lady I Championships and to give back to the sport by serving as a board member and advisory committee member for the Spanish Fork Gun Club. Also, after induction, she co-founded Shotgun Works with her husband, Robert Hight, continuing her impact on the sport through innovation and service.
Leslie is deeply honored and grateful to be recognized among Utah's greats with her induction into the Utah Hall of Fame.
