Shooting Merit

Sam Sharman of Salt Lake City shot registered targets from 1922 to 1942 and served as the A.T.A. President in 1936 — the first President from Utah. Sam was the first person in Utah to win the Utah State Singles Championship with a 200×200 in 1929, a record held until 1960. He was the Utah State Singles Champion in 1922, 1923, 1926, 1929, 1931, 1932, and 1934, and also won the Utah Handicap, Doubles, and All Around Championships in 1926, 1931, 1932, 1934, 1935, and 1941. Sam swept all state titles in 1926, 1931, 1932, and 1934. He was a member of the 1931 All American Team and the 1924 Olympic Trap Team.
